  • A great film, now even better...

Although the DVD version is a great film of a great book, this remastered version really brings it to life. Jack Hawkins is perfect on the role as Ericson, the captain, and all the other actors just seem to fit their roles so well. My first two ships after I joined the Royal Navy were Type 14 anti-submarine frigates so I have a fair idea of what it must have been like to sail in her. Probably best watched on a 40 inch or larger tv if you can to get the best from this Blu-Ray version.

  • Realistic, straight-faced, tense, exciting, with a human touch.

Probably best war film, of it's type.

  • Good quality remastering.

This is a first class remastering of an old classic. Particularly enjoyable was the interview with Donal Sinded.
