ReviewsCharles Spencer - The company give the piece their all. John Owen-Jones brings great heart, passion and a tremendous voice to the tormented Jean Valjean, who escapes from the chain-gang only to be hunted down by the remorseless policeman Javert, given a memorably sinister, doom-laden performance by Earl Carpenter. The latterÆs final exit is perhaps the most spectacular in modern theatre., DVD Verdict - Veteran stage actors Alfie Boe and Norm Lewis do a magnificent with the roles of Valjean and Javert respectively, as does Ramin Karimloo as the rebellious Enjolras.
It is a glorious celebration of something my wife and I love. The cast is excellent, the atmosphere electric, the chorus mind blowing. My wife and I are very different in our tastes but there are songs for us both. This celebration has a feel good factor, like meeting old friends.
I've seen this at the theatre many times and watched the films so just had to get this, especially as Alfie Boe was playing Jean Valjean. A wonderful DVD which can be watched over and over. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy, especially when Alfie Boe sings 'Bring Him Home'. Doesn't get any better - wonderful!
Excellent concert reproduction, with guest stars celebrating the 25th anniversary
Well recorded concert show, with excellent musicians and singers. Fantastic watching & listening, with many superb highlights.
Easy to get lost in this wonderful rendition.
A treasure and excellent value for money.
Highly recommended
Excellent production, far better than the 10th anniversary version.
Really enjoyable with fantastic cast. Tip, would recommend watching the film version prior to the stage version, significantly helps in following the plot.
