This lens is great IF you have the 16mm and it will get you to 12mm. If you have the 20mm it will also work, but will get you to 16mm, which begs the question why you would not use or get the 16mm in the first place. Non of the other lenses work - at least the ones that I have 18-55 and 16-50 - and will results in severe vignetting. The lens is light, and attaches easily to the 16mm (and 20mm). It can be popped off the 16mm and held in 1 hand while shooting with the other to shoot 16mm. There are severe stretching at the edges due to the rectilinear projection (opposite of the fisheye) - but this is the charm of the lens. Image quality is OK and like the 16mm. My Nex3N and 5N both correct for the 16mm and correct for the adapter the same way. Images look OK. I have this and the fisheye (ECF1). I use the fisheye quite a bit more. JamesRead full review
I like the fact that it extends the capabilities of the Sony 16mm lens and retains the optic quality of the lens. The only real con is that introduces some distortion on the edges but that is to be expected and it makes the camera 4 oz heavier. These are deal breakers and I would highly recommend this wide angle as a must have if you want to extend your wide angle capabilities with your Sony NEX camera and that of course you have a 16mm lens to attach to it.
I bought this lens to pair with the Sony SEL-16F28 on my Sony NEX 7. It was a good decision because the pictures are very good. I plan to use the combo primarily for travel pictures in crowded or tight city streets. They should perform well in darker conditions as well. The quality and appearance are very good.
If you own a Sony NEX and have the 16mm f2.8, and you like shooting landscape, cityscapes... this is a must have, especially if you can find one used with good price. I won an auction that ended rather low, plus the same seller had another auction of the fisheye converter, which I also won with low price... So for me, it was a REALLY GREAT value.
Serves the purpose of what it’s intended to do - have a wider view as needed.

excellent value.. but i also have the fisheye adapter and my personal taste prefers the fisheye. however this is still a very good ultra wide angle lens with minimal to no distortion that would be excellent for photographing architecture and tight landscapes.
its sharp in the center but its soft in the edges

Great addition to the 16mm lens, you get another 5ft of coverage on each side of your view. Although it changes the footprint in carrying it attached, it's a great add on lens..i just wish it had threading for adding filters.
Great angle to my pictures, ............................................................................
