Wolfs head and Hurn fight the forces of evil with the power of light and dark in balance.....
1970's Vintage "Wine" from Michael Praed as "the hooded man" and "wolfs head outlaw" Robin of Sherwood. Classic wrongdoing, greed and ambition is well portrayed from the role of Nicholas grace who plays the role of the infamous and un loved "Sherrif of Notingham".
Also another soon to be famous actor appears as "the Baron De Balam"
(he went on to play the gentleman burglar "Rafalls" for ITV).
Series TWO has also French language titles. French titles also for "The making of Robin Hood".
Filmed in England in the 1970's, created by Richard Carpenter, this series has a realistic application of folklore, with appearances made from the "Forest God" Hurn the Hunter, (played by John Abneri) and Stone standing circles that magicaly turns under Hurns direction to save the life of Maid marion.
This dvd set version contains New Digital transfers, and a newly enhanced Dolby Soundtrack. as well as the original Mono Soundtracks.
In the story "The Kings Fool" we are given insight into the German ransom demand and return of King richard the Lion heart" 'Couer de Lion) when Robin rescues a strange lone nobleman who turns out to be the King himself, who "pardons him".....but who then "puts back the sheriff and all his cronies" who had only just plotted aginst him to steal the throne of Norman England.
The classic characters of maid Marion (played by Juddi Trott) Friar Tuck, (Phil Rose) John Little (Clive Mantle) and the infamous Guy De Gisborne (played by Robert Addie)and the dark and mysterious "Baron de Balam" give the series of forest adventures a serious nd mystical "edge" even over the more modern films made of Robin Hood today. The scene of the heroic death of Michael Praeds "incarnation" of Robin, ends with a sudden "magical" appearance by his "successor" played by Jason Connery.
If you look out, in Sherwood Castle, you will meet a young "John Nettles" (later of BERGERAC and Inspector Barnaby) who plays the hapless servant of his Grace "Prince John" who baths every day...
The Clannad film sound track adds a atmospehere to this series, and despite its early filming origins, the film or movie "sets" give a "believability" and realism not found in some "modern" but rather more "shallow" offerrings of this story.
