It might not have had a very big budget but it should have been more widely watched. This is a keeper. Better than those crazy Greek films.

I do like period drama's, not sure there are any that cover the Black death, so for that I was interested, my other interest being Sean Bean as a great actor. I thought the story line was brilliant, when you think of the year and all the prejudice that went with bad crops or animals being unwell, it was the fault of women who were classed as a witch, or witches, the ugly women must have had a great time getting the pretty one's burnt or tortured for the plaque had a great grip on almost every village, a terrible time, add to that one village that appears untouched by the pestilence. This is were our hero comes in with his men decreed by the Bishop, to find out why this village has been spared. Is it witchcraft? that's what there mission is to find out, if god has abandoned this place, and is evil thriving there. Amazing fight scenes, and a good pace to a well thought out storyline. One to watch againRead full review
BE SURPRISED, BE VERY SURPRISED, BECAUSE THIS ISNT TOO BAD AT ALL. SET IN MEDIEVAL ENGLAND, SEAN BEAN PLAYS THE BISHOPS ENVOY, WHO ROUNDS UP A MOTLEY CREW OF RELIGIOUS MERCENARIES, INCLUDING A MONK, A TORTURER, A SOLDIER AND A MUTE CONVICT TO CAPTURE A WITCH FROM A VILLAGE THAT IS THE ONLY ONE IN ENGLAND TO ESCAPE THE PLAGUE (HENCE-BLACK DEATH). THE FIRST HALF OF THE FILM BUILDS UP THE CHARACTERS IN BATTLE AND RELIGIOUS FERVOUR BUT UPON ARRIVAL AT THE VILLAGE THINGS GET A BIT WEIRD AND ALL IS NOT AS IT FIRST APPEARS. I WILL SAY NO MORE, JUST WATCH IT !
Savage, brutal adventure set at the time of the Black Death - the plague that killed about half of England's population in the Middle Ages. Sean Bean, who always looks great with sword in hand, leads a band of desperate fighters trying to hunt down and destroy a powerful witch. Not for the fainthearted.
Sean Bean leads a band of ruthless mercenaries to track down the witch who is believed to have used sorcery in protecting a village from the black death plague
enjoyed this film, Sean bean really does suit this kind of role. dark and dank as you would excpect from a film in the time of the back death!
Rating C+ - An interesting and original take using the plague and religion as the theme. The film moves along at a slow the medium pace, but it builds up nicely to a decent and unexpected ending. Worth watching.
