This beautiful camera was made in 2003 to the highest standard. It still produces excellent images, but it now seems quite slow in operation by modern standards. It is suited to a more leisurely and deliberate approach to photography. The V1 feels comfortable in the hand with controls well placed. Lack of image stabilisation encourages the use of burst mode to select the best picture. The direct viewfinder is a worthwhile alternative to the small viewing screen, and is often indispensable on bright days. The 4X zoom range of the Zeiss lens is perfectly adequate at 34-136 equivalent, and at f2.8 to f4.0 is fast enough throughout the zoom range. Wide-angle and telephoto screw-in adapters are available to extend the usefulness of this excellent camera.
