Great amplifier - with a design flaw.
The Marantz is a classic amplifier which sounds great.
There is, however, a design flaw as the transistors for the power supply to the low voltage circuits are placed in the middle of the main pcb, and they get very hot. This heat dries out the electrolytic capacitors around them - and degrades the transistors themselves. Over time this will accelerate to the point where the transistors get so hot that they can actually de-solder from the pcb, causing (intermittent) amp failure.
So if you think of buying an old Marantz, expect that it may eventually require a re-capping and a qualified repair to move or replace the transistors to the heatsinks. Once that has been done, the amp should be back to its former glory - and will now last even longer.
