Superb Firewire interface and dual high quality standalone microphone preamp for very low cost
To be honest, M-audio have not generally been viewed as a high-end manufacturer in recording studio circles, and the preamps and D to A converters in some of their earlier interfaces were really only adequate for undemanding applications . However, I have been very positively impressed with the performance and sound quality of the Profire 610. Recording a grand piano with a mid side microphone setup produced some amazing results, the 610 preforming well above expectations for its relatively modest price. The fact that it can also be configured as a standalone high quality two channel microphone preamp with analogue line or spdf output, and also has sufficient outputs for use with up to 7.1 surround sound makes it a really useful device, as long as you have a computer with firewire of course. Fortunately my Macbook Pro and studio Macs do, so I'm very happy with it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
