  • Very dated, did not age well, acting was flat.

It's always interesting to see again movies you enjoyed years ago. Some age quite well, and thos become 'classics.' Unfortunately, The Sandpiper isn't in that category. The most startling thing about watching this movie again is that there was no 'chemistry' between the actors -- amazing since Taylor and Burton were married to each other.

  • Meh

If you love Big Sur, it's worth everything! I loved the scenery, and Jack Shelton's cri du ceour trumpet playing Shadow of Your Smile. The acting is broken; fractured; Elizabeth Taylor was terrible, always; Richard Burton amazing, always. And Eva Marie Saint stunning and good; always. The break between the stars and the others showed a discomfort with superstars that the actors-as-actors were (Charles Bronson). It's dated and tries to be too hip. And the wise man of the cloth is nowhere near relevant; to high-falootin to be interesting! Who still does that??? I'm keeping it for the lovvvvvvvely Big Sur scenes and they were brought to perfect with this skill of cinematography. I'll turn off the sound and skip through the people parts.
