The thing I was looking for was a cheap multi-pattern condenser (mostly I needed the omni function). It does great at that for room micing and distant applications, but this thing is actually nice for many things. I'd take it over the MXL 990 that everybody has any day. You need a couple of flavors of mic for voice, but this definitely isn't a bad start and it's great on acoustic instruments.

It's stupid how good this mic sounds. I just compared it with a Neumann TLM 103, a Blue Reactor, and a Studio Projects C3 with the Microphone-Parts.com EQ mod (also from the 797 Audio factory, like the Behringer). It sounds every bit as good as the Neumann and the C3, and is warmer and fuller than the Reactor. I opened it up, and what did I find?-- a very nicely designed circuit, complete with a full complement of Wima capacitors, and the wonderful 797 Audio K67 capsule. This is the real deal, folks. I bought mine used for $63. Go figure. Get this mic, sell your Neumanns, and go on a nice vacation.
I have been running my all analog recording studio for decades and have many, many (too many in fact) spendy mics. Large diaphragm condensors, small diaphragm condensors, several ribbons etc ect When an engineer I know from the east coast told me the Behinger B2 Pro was one of the best mics he's ever used, I actually laughed at him. When he kept insisting I give one a try, I told him he had lost it and hung up the phone. However, over the next few days, my curiosity got the best of me and I got a B2Pro. I was completely shocked to find out my friend was right. I immediately recognized that this was a really good sounding mic that takes eq very well. It was put to immediate use on the lead vocal of the song I was working on when it arrived. Also built very well. If it had some other name, it would sell for $1,000 to $2,000. Beats anything from Warm Audio or MXL hands down. Read full review

Construction and finish are excellent. Mike is sturdy(not lightweight) included shock mount holds it securely. Nice protective case.

I gave this mic 5 stars mainly because of value. I have a recording studio in Kentucky and I own a lot of mics, most of them a lot more expensive. This was my first condenser though. This mic has multiple patterns and is a true work horse. The B2 sounds very good on a lot of sources especially male vocals and offers a slight lift in the 12k range (giving it that airy touch), subsequently this mic also sounds nice on acoustic guitar ( if you roll off the bass with the pad you don't have to use eq). This mic is extremely sensitive, and one time I was recording a vocal track and heard this awful ticking sound. I just knew the mic was broken, but upon further inspection we found out it was the clock in the other room! lol. Needless to say I got rid of that clock and got a digital one. Even though I have much more expensive mics I still use this one often, because this is not just a good mic for the money but a good mic in general!Read full review
