Good kit, didn't need iPhone 4S but wanted to maximise cloud use alongside IPAD and IMac, so a familiar interface but text ever so small when compare dot IPAD admittedly, and chunky fingers can mistype This was second hand so great value, stayed with orange so sim changeover easy and added data to plan, NB Orange and probably other locked ones are either expensive to get unlocked, as Orange wouldn't do it because I was not the original registered owner. So if buying one ask seller to unlock it first or factor in a specialist unlocked £60 +
I love this phone, it's so easy to use and works beautifully. Hardly anything has had to be explained to me. my only issues are with its rubbish battery life (1.5 days maximum really, and that's with closing down all unused apps, putting in airplane mode and keeping 3G usage to a minimum!) and with texting, as the touch-type buttons are tiny and the corrective feature, although useful 90% of the time, often changes things I've written to the wrong words. However, in the grand scheme of things, I've never owned a better phone, and I'll never go back!
Bought this phone as it is better than Blackberries and my SIM card wouldnt fit iPhone 4. Only negative thing was the big mix up involving the wrong phone being sent and the second one breaking. OVERALL 4/5 (let down by the last part of review)
I asked Orange about upgrading my phone to an iPhone 4 but for once they were very unhelpful. Trouble is I have a fantastic tarriff that no-one else can better for the money, and orange said I'd have to take a worse and more expensive tarrif to qualify for the smaller sim card needed for an iphone 4. (They clearly want me off that tarrif) So I spent some time searching eBay for the right 3GS at the right price, got an excellent 2nd hand one and just swapped the sim from my Nokia X6 into the 3GS and everything is brilliant. There's no doubt about how good this phone is , and I'm not going to rattle on about it's functions, suffice it to say I'm glad I didn't rely on Orange or go for the iPhone 4 - I'm perfectly happy with this 3GS. Especially when a pal of mine has had no end of problems with his 4. Battery life, even 2nd hand, is excellent, far longer than I expected. Reception is good too, better than my old Nokia X6 which used to be a bit touch and go in my office. The 3 GS has shown no sign of poor reception here at all. I've invested in a silicone case for it as my old iPod touch (which is now redundant of course) soon scratched quite badly. So far, the only problem is that it won't fit the cradle of my sound dock as it is thicker than the ipod touch which it was obviously designed for, however a £1.50 3.5mm jack plug lead solved that problem. My advice - if you're thinking of getting a 3GS - do it!Read full review
