It works, kinda...
I know it is old, but there are three things that bothered me about this item. 1. The S-video port was smashed in (like someone pushed too hard and destroyed the mechanism.) I can still use the AV ports though. 2. The viewfinder is monochrome... not color. (Not a huge deal, but I was hoping for color.) 3. There is no battery... has to be plugged in all the time. (Was hoping to give it to my kids after I finished using it. They could walk around and record w/o being stuck to an outlet.) All-in-all, It plays my old tapes which is why I got it and I can now convert them to digital.

I recever all of the product expected. It works. But I will be sending it to a camera repair facility. The playback jitters and ate one tape. Not good for transfer of old memories.

Sony TR700 great for transferring
This is an excellent camera to transfer my old HI-8, 8mm tapes,bought a converter to go to 1080p and it works perfectly, this is the camera for transferring, All of my tapes were originally recorded on a Sony TR-101, this TR700 does the trick, Pipefittermike on Ebay
