  • Great flash with the correct camera.

Lovely flash, exceptionally fast recycling in test mode but unfortunately not compatible with Canon digital cameras (at least the 2000D that my granddaughter has. Consequently the camera and flash do not communicate with each other fully. My mistake, I didn’t do my homework.

  • Batter than expected

From what I have read online this flash is only supposed to work on manual mode with the Canon 20d, but i have it working on av, tv and manual as well as auto mode, so you can't go by everything you read online👍

  • Quality for Off Camera Flash

Older flashguns, which were top of the line with their respective film cameras, are still well worth having to use with digital gear. As a shoe mount flash, the metering probably won't work with modern digital cameras - particularly as Canon changed their protocol with the EX range of guns. However, why use it on a hotshot? Why use it on a Canon camera? I have Fujifilm X cameras and Cactus V6 remote triggers. These triggers use the TTL functions of the flashgun, to provide remote, power managed, manual flash. They have built in profiles for a number of big name guns - this particular model being one of them. I attach the gun to a receiver, sit them on a light stand and set the power level I want - this model is only stoppable to 1/32, whereas more modern guns will step down to 1/128 power. So I have a Fuji camera with older Nikon and Canon flashguns at a fraction of the cost of the latest models.
