The Ricoh GF-1 Shoe Mount Flash allows photographers to add lighting to any situation to improve photographs. The shoe mount flash is compatible with Ricoh GXR cameras and attaches via hot shoe contacts. The Ricoh Shoe Mount Flash securely mounts to the top of the camera with a lock ring.This lightweight accessory is only 10.2 ounces and operates automatically with the camera and when separated from the camera. The Ricoh GF-1 uses four AA batteries. The device includes an ambient light automatic sensor, which detects the amount of light and chooses a flash setting. The Ricoh GF-1 also includes a number of manual settings, accessed via buttons on the back of the device. These settings include a wide-angle diffuser panel, which lends 18 mm of coverage, and a bounce flash, which provides softer, more natural light. The Ricoh Shoe Mount Flash also has two slave flash settings for increased illumination. In addition, a catch-light panel can be used with human subjects to brighten the eyes and facial expression. The device enters stand-by mode after two minutes and shuts off after 30 minutes in stand-by to save power. The Ricoh GF-1 is a convenient shoe mount flash tool for better photography.

great TTL flash for Ricoh GR ii
I bought this from my GR ii, even though that camera has built-in flash. The GF-1 provides much more light, and has the advantage that it can be bounced up instead of directly toward subject. It works TTL, no calculation is needed. Additionally, the GF-1 flash can be used as a slave, triggered by the onboard GR ii flash. So you can put the flash in a different part of the room, etc. And last, at some point I'll probably upgrade to the GR iii -- or whatever they come out with after. The GR iii has no built-in flash, so if flash is needed, you need something like the GF-1.

Nice size for GR 2 camera
I only tested it; not used it to any great extent. But I do like it. Nice compact size and works automatically with my GR 2 camera.
