  • These things are MAGICAL.

So, if you stick them in distilled water, you get little creatures to inspect. That's cool, educational, etc. I'm all for that. However, let me tell you why you want to buy these: These are THE KEY to clear water in a no-tech (no filter, specifically) aquarium. Here's an approximate timeline: Day 1) Here we go! Day 2) No change. Day 3) No change. ... Day 6) I guess that's a /little/ better. I guess. Day 7) Eh, ok, so I wasn't imagining it. It's a tiny bit better. I can see them moving around near the glass. Day 8) No change. ... Day 14) Well, I guess that's not getting any better than that. Better find an algae removal chemical that won't kill my snail. Day 15) HOLY COW I CAN SEE EVERYTHING!!!!!! I didn't even get to buy a chemical treatment. It's been a month and a half and I've had no clarity issues at all. I didn't even bother with the hatching instructions, just dumped them into my 1gal tank. If you want a little desk aquarium, get yourself some plants, get yourself some snails and/or shrimp, and BUY THESE. BUY THEM NOW. :)

  • Hatching like crazy!

It's been just under a week since I started the eggs. I didn't have a lamp, as the instructions request, but I set them in a very warm, sunny window. I see at least a few daphnia, some seed shrimp, and what I can guess will be rotifers, Most of them are still specks, but they're definitely swimming about, and there area lot of them! I've tried hatching water fleas only from a few different companies, and the hatch rate on these guys is much better compared to the other ones I've tried. Just in time, too, because one of my Endler guppies had fry the day after I brought her home!

  • Excellent - I have daphnia again!

USE PURE WATER! Can't stress that enough. I used reverse osmosis filtered water and 3 days later, I had some daphnia. I've been feeding them the spirulina that came with the package and they are multiplying like crazy! Shipping was very fast too. This product worked a lot better than others I've bought. I am going to buy a few more packs right after i finish writing this. If you want daphnia, this will work for you!

  • It really takes 3 to 5 days

Don’t forget that they are tiny babies and are very easy to miss. Just follow the instructions and everything will be fine. I used RO water and a Betta heater to keep it warm. The heater is on for a few hours. I started them in a 1 gallon jar.

  • The Perfect Multi-Use Hobby!

Adding even a small portion of the contents of this bag to a small bowl of distilled water will yield hundreds of interesting nauplii and eventually a never ending supply of daphnia and seed shrimp that you can study or feed to your larger aquatic animals. Seriously, there will be a lot of seed shrimp...

I threw it in water and right away tiny stuff grew. A month later, today, I discovered two seed shrimps.
