Great little torch
Professional quality tool!! I just used it this morning to help loosen up a seized bolt. It doesn’t have the potential of oxy-acetylene but for home work it does the job!! Shame
I seem to have a duff one. It seemed to be an excellent piece of kit for the money; powerful, quite well made, pretty strong & easy to use. Unfortunately after about a dozen or so firings it stopped igniting - then it did - then it didn't, & sometimes when it did the flame shape had belled out. Checked the piezo - loads of spark, but moved the wire anyway - success! For about 4 attempts, then no go again. Checked the nozzle - clean, but gently cleaned it anyway. No difference. Intermittency getting worse. Tried shaking the can -seemed to fire up a bit more. Tapped it - better. Tapped the burner body - success! Now seem to be able to get it to go all the time. By hitting it. Not good. So it looks like I've got one with a problem in its internals. Yet I'm recommending it? Yes, because I think I've been unlucky. Nobody else seems to have had this problem, & if it weren't for that it would be an excellent torch. Oh well. Back it goesVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Blowlamp
Having been a JIB Technical grade Plumber, now retired, I have used blowlamps extensively in all kinds of different situations for many years . The industry dominant one of course in this size, was the Primus 2000 with refillable bottles. But this one is good for the price and although it uses disposable bottles it does give you the option of being able to use MAPP gas for light brazing or silver soldering a handy thing to have. Also places for refilling Primus bottles seem to be getting fewer and fewer. That is not helpful if it runs out in the middle of a job, you want to be able to get a refill fairly quickly and locally. The disposable bottles seem to be more readily available in many places and you can buy a couple to keep as standby's. So we old codgers have to come up to date and although Rothenberg is usually a good professional make their lamps are exceedingly dear to buy. This one seems just as good. But then I no longer use a blow lamp every day and could not tell you what it performs like in regular every day professional use. Well made and easy to use. A fraction of the price of a "Pro" brand and not convinced it isn't nearly as good. If you do a lot of DIY or even occaisional plumbing/soldering work this is a far superior torch than the less expensive GoSystem torch and worth the extra. A replacement for a worn out old and virtually identical item.
Bought as a replacement for a virtually identical item which served me well for, I think, around 15 years, now defunct due to seals failure. Excellent for soldering and brazing small metal articles - and also for heat treating them. Yo must use the special MAP gas cylinder sold separately! The heat output while excellent for 'domestic' purposes can't compete with industrial systems - but this is not its purpose anyway. If the metal item is larger -say a 20mm square by 100mm long piece of tool steel you want to anneal by heating to bright red - you will need an additional source of heat - like another similar torch.
