The simple approach is always the best method. I have been using self tapping bolts in metal all my working life, now I have started using self tapping bolts for concrete, and my jobs take far less effort and time.. The cost of using wall plugs and the time to fit them, is offset greatly, by using this simple method of drill and fit. The quality and feel of these bolts is first class. You do need to make sure the hole is empty of concrete dust, by drilling a deeper hole by say 30% The M8 x 75mm is a very useful size for most jobs, and don't use a power tool to fit, use a socket, this will give you the feel you need to determine if there is dust in the bottom of the hole, which will lock the bolt before it has lock you work down.
