  • UFX1204 - a little marvel, unique little mixer - Behringer has improved everything !

After tedious research, options, flexibility, sounds, and a Swiss Army Knife mixer, this little beauty was it ! Improvements vs. X xenyx line. Excellent preamps, 3 band - mid sweep EQ (On/Off button*), very quiet, 16x4 USB Interface* with Control Panel on computer. Also a 16Trk* on-board Recorder (Channels 1-12, Sub 1/2, L/R=16).....[always reformat your drives "ON" the mixer for best results. Firewire Interface...that's 3 options to choose from individually. Record "Live Tracks", copy USB card to your DAW and continue work with the same mixer to add tracks, etc... or start from scratch using the same mixer as your primary Interface. It's also a great "little" 4 XLR + 4 Stereo=12 normal inputs for solo, duo or vocal, etc club setup. I purchased it as a backup for my XR16 WiFi and flexibility. Let your imagination loose and you'll find many potential options to merge them, or use best options of both as needed. The UFX1604 is the bigger brother, but still 16x4 USB/Firewire, same 16Tkl onboard and larger than I wanted. The 4 Band EQ, extra inputs, and 2 FX were tempting, but adding the XR16 opened more doors for my uses. (4XLR+8XLR), WiFi, flexibility and Backup ! I Love It !

  • Big and tacky looking, but nonetheless a nice and versatile mixer that's (almost) perfect for DAW-less jamming.

Works quite well. Sound quality is good even though there's a bit of noise here and there. After a while mine started developing an issue with the gain knob on a few channels. Adjusting them a channel that is actively receiving any amount of signal causes scratchy noises. It's tricky to route the wet FX output into the solo/monitor output as it requires some external patching. I feel like I'm missing something really simple about aux 2 (FX) or what not but I could never figure out and easy way. The problem appears to be that solo is post-eq, but FX is "post"-post-eq. The hack is then to engage Send FX to Aux 1, then patch Aux 1 send back into an unused channel, and its only at this point that you can solo that channel and hear wet FX into your monitor headphones. That's a weird annoying quirk. Maybe I'm just trying to stretch the workflow in strange directions. On the other hand you can isolate and listen to the output of the FX processor alone in your monitor, so I guess that's cool too. I'm using the mixer mainly for DAW-less jamming with modular synths and drum machines, so the integrated 16 channel in/out USB interface/external flash drive recording was really the biggest selling point for me at that price. It was important to be able to jam live while also having the possibility to readjust levels and EQs for each channel independently afterwards. Most mixers that try to double as a USB interface usually don't bother and mash all channels into a single stereo output signal before sending that signal on its way to your recording software. It's the same as if you plugged an external recorder to the main output. Last point of contention is that it's a big and rather ugly mixer. It doesn't matter for a fixed recording/jamming station, but it's not...aesthetic when you take it on the road. Its tacky curvy glossy red sides are a waste of space and an eyesore. The size makes it look ridiculous if you're not surrounding it with a whole bunch of gears. A little too much '00s for my taste. All things considered I really like this mixer, but if I had just started shopping for a mixer today and had a little more money I would probably go for the 1010music Bluebox. It's way more compact and aesthetic and does everything I need without all the recording studio features/fluff I don't use on the Behringer.

  • Great mixer

I have owned two Behringer mixers. This one blows me away with all the features and the quality of sound. If you're looking for a good mixer for your home studio you can't go wrong with this one. I researched for about two weeks before buying and I believe I've made the right decision for a mixer in this price range.

  • UFX 1204 mixer

No other mixer of this size has what this one has. Plus, no drivers are needed (Mac), and it has all you could ask for. Dual USB/Firewire outputs make if extremely flexible. Mic pres are very, very good, and the routing is intuitive. Stand-alone recording to a flash drive puts it over the top! Wow!! Behringer has catapulted to new heights in the last couple years, overtaking others in the market. BEST OF SHOW!
