Best 5-htp I’ve used!
Started using this about a year ago, I have fibromyalgia and I’ve been on trazadone (to help me sleep) for over 3 years. (It’s a bit of a secret that after taking Trazadone for a prolonged period actually starts to deplete dopamine in the brain. When you first start to take it, it raises dopamine levels) I was taking 250mg a day of Trazadone, which is very high, and of course causes more side effects. There IS A DANGER of taking them together, however I took the risk and over time have managed to reduce my trazadone to 50-100mg and increased the 5-htp to 3 tablets (600mg) taking 2-3 at night, or depending on pain levels, I take 2, it doesn’t make me drowsy, so sometimes if I’m feeling rubbish when I wake, I’ll take 1. Or if I feel a headache/migraine starting then I’ll take 1 tablet.
I wouldn’t recommend taking this WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR first, especially if your on any meds for migraines or any type of anti-depressants. Although I have found they won’t really comment, as it’s a natural extract that they don’t prescribe! (No money from pharmaceutical companies then of course ;-| )
I wasn’t sure if it made any difference at first until I ran out after taking it for a couple of months. Then slowly I started to suffer with insomnia, feeling down, suffering more pain, feeling more fatigued etc...
I also have friends that have suffered with depression and they have cured it by taking 5-htp without taking nasty prescription anti-depression drugs.
I DID DO A LOT OF RESEARCH before taking it, and started on a low dose first. So I RECOMMEND DOING RESEARCH on the web first, but it can help with a lot of ailments, insomnia, depression, migraines etc...
Also diet plays a big part, you need to ensure your getting plenty of magnesium and L-tyrosine in your DIET for it to work best! It’s easy too, they’re in eggs, fish, meat, fruit, veg, even dark chocolate! 1 square a day gives you 40% of your recommend daily magnesium intake! Hehe
