Keep it clean.
I bought one of these about two years ago and it worked great until the mechanism in the hinge gave out a couple of weeks ago. I thought it might need oiling (mistake) I gave it a spray of WD 40 (bigger mistake) It must have interfiered with the circuit board, anyway it stopped working. I bought another one a couple of weeks ago. This time I will take better care of it as it does tend to get very dirty near the inside top of the bin and stuff can get into the hinge part. After all tha,t I can't fault it for looks. Maybe I will fit some sort of guard on the new one to stop food and garbage getting into the hinge. I would buy another again if this new one packs up after two years. A great buy, but must be cleaned regularly.

Handy auto opening bin
Really handy to be able to open the bin without having to open by hand, especially when you have both hands full. Also the bag retaining band is useful, preventing bin bags falling down inside.
