  • MIDLAND MICRO MOBILE GMRS RADIO REVIEW UPDATE ALERT

Purchased this new Midland radio and I must say I can not find any negatives about this radio. This radio is just great. Having 5 watts of power this radio gets out with a great clear strong signal. Great reports from home base. Nice small unit with plenty of all the needed options required. A super sensitive receiver I was amazed. 4 miles out we were still talking clear as a bell. Base using a 2 watt Motorola sp21 gmrs with a modified longer antenna. The only thing I would like to see added on to this radio is a weather alert channel. Radio is so compact it will fit just about anywhere you want it. Im impressed greatly after useing 2 portables and only getting barely 2 miles and now I get around 5 miles with 2 way communications. I must also add I am in the country so there is not many buildings to block the signals. So I recommend this radio 125%. Also comes with a mounting that lets you remove the radio and slide it out from the mount with no knobs or screws. A read good coiled mic. I love it. NOTE===SOME SELLERS ARE STATEING THAT THE RANGE OF THIS RADIO IS 40 MILES. THATS NOT TRUE. BEST I GOT WAS 5 MILES IN A SURBURBAN AREA I LIVE IN. LESS IN THE CITY MABEY 2 MILES. TOYTREKER

  • Works well

I am a farmer and we wanted something a little better than a CB radio to use on the farm to talk from tractor to tractor. We were looking for short distance communcation so this FRS will work fine. I hooked it up in just a few minutes and read through the quick start guide and was up and running. I tested it in a pick up and a Combine harvester working 2-3 miles a way and it had a very clear signal. I like the size and the package unit with the antenna it seems to be very adiquate for what we are doing. It was a bit over priced at $150ea but its the only one on the market. I bought it on the Midland web site via Best Buy. It arrived quickly and shipping was either free or very cheap.
