Quick's the Word, and "Sharpe's The Action"
Great series, historically accurate and well-researched...set largely during the Pensinsular War in Spain, 1809-1814, in the Campaign led by General Sur Arthur Wellesly, the Duke of Wellington. Richard Sharpe, a sergeant in the 95th Rifle Regiment saves Wellington's Life and is given a Field Commisson to Lieutenant......a rise that wins him few friends among the Officer Class, who consider him beneath them and NOT a Gentleman.

Not like the books...
I have been spoilt by having read the Sharpe series in book form. Nothing can capture to horror and scale of the Bernard Cornwell's telling of this epic story in text. He does in his books commend this TV series which in itself is well done.
