A 'Yellow Pages' moment!
Tremendous historic performances by a gifted player of interesting pieces by a previously rather neglected composer. I may be a little biased as I was the tuner/technician during the recording process. It was I who selected 'Young 2' as the tuning temperament as it is an English but Italianate temperament. It was a very interesting week in the country where the pieces were recorded mostly at nighttime in a rural church where we had to contend with the tappings of death-watch beetles in the roof and a small fire from an electrical cable coil. On the rare occasions the recordings were made in the daytime it was a local yellowhammer who interrupted the proceedings. I formerly had a cassette tape of these recordings but that has disappeared, so I was delighted, even at a high price, to obtain them again, this time on CD (I suspect one cannot find them streamed anywhere), from Milan. The quality is wonderful, and the music and the acoustics of the church take me right back in time to when the recordings were made and our duck-egg breakfasts and champagne and caviare celebration at the end of the recordings!
