Not as good as the original whistle
This was a replacement because the spring broke in the original whistle. I don't know what's different about this replacement but, when it blows, the knob gets really hot and if it is still whistling when you pull it out of the spout, expect to have your fingers scalded! Also, the previous whistle used to build up - quietly at first and, as steam pressure increased, it got louder. The replacement seems unable to sound until full pressure is reached and then it sounds at full throttle. Sure, it's loud but, sometimes, I like a bit of warning so that I can take the kettle off the heat before I go deaf. My solution was to remove the spring and fit it in the old whistle. Sadly, this makes for a very expensive spring replacement!
