The genre of the light music era is sadly too often overlooked. We had some great composers such as Ronald Binge, Eric Coates, Haydn Wood who produced some beautiful pieces of music that are still used today. This is a charming little piece with a great piano reduction. The music itself isn't too tricky but does go right up to high F!! A really lovely piece.
A tuneful way to develop upper octave control on the oboe.
Having been brought up on this piece when it was used for the signature tune to the BBC production of Frances Hodgeson Burnett's 'The Secret Garden' I thought it was about time I added it to my repertoire! So long as the performer doesn't mind all those top Fs (a feature of the piece) this is a melodious and effective piece that shows the top register to its best advantage. Piano part isn't too tricky either. Excellent value and quick service too.
