Probably the best small Sony AM/FM radio
I had the previous black version of this little radio many years ago and when I dropped it and wanted a replacement it was discontinued and this version, silver and grey had replaced it. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I valued my previous radio so much that I hesitated before buying the new replacement. I need not have worried as this Sony radio was a great improvement. It has great sound due to the speaker being larger than most other small radios. The reception is better with more sensitivity than previous ones I have used and the three readily available AA alkaline batteries seem to last for ever. It can't recharge the batteries when operating from a power adapter but as the batteries last so long that is irrelevant. The neat fold-out stand at the rear is also useful and prevents it being knocked over whilst still letting sound out of the rear which improves sound quality. All in all a well designed, easy to use little radio long discontinued but which I have been very pleased to find used on eBay at a very reasonable price. I have looked at newer versions and they are nowhere near as good - sound cheap and tinny! Probably the best small AM/FM radio ever produced by Sony - or anyone for that matter. Good except for a noisy on/off switch
The radio is fine except for the on/off switch which is also a volume control. There is some problem with the on/off. Switching on is very noisy and doesn't "engage" properly until the volume is turned up from the off position.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
