Collection of TV dramas by the acclaimed British film maker Ken Loach. 'The Big Flame' (1967) and 'Rank and File' (1971) are trademark Loach dramas, detailing with sympathy the plight of workers caught up in industrial disputes at the Liverpool docks and the Pilkington glassworks, respectively. 'Three Clear Sundays' (1965) tells the story of Danny (Tony Selby), a young man facing up to the death penalty after an attempt to help reduce the sentence of two other prison inmates goes badly wrong. 'Days of Hope' (1975) is an epic four-part series starring Paul Copley, Pamela Brighton and Nikolas Simmonds as members of a working class family whose fortunes are depicted from the end of WWI to what they perceive as their betrayal in the General Strike of 1926.

    Ken Loach X 16 films

    In this DVD box set 1, all 16 films are utterly credible stories that are compelling in their viewing. Ken Loach loves his out of the studio open air scenes, which helps to add realism. The actors, especially the unknown ones have an earthiness about them that adds even more credibility to the characters. I want MORE of these types of films and will probably get the 2nd box set at some point. FANTASTIC! I Can't praise Loach's politically left leaning working class perspective enough.

    Classic Loach films

    Great to get so many of Ken Loach's films in one box set, including the classic 'Kathy Come Home" I don't know anyone who watches this and doesn't cry. Typical social film based around the 60's. Also 'Up the Junction' watch this and see what women had to go through before abortion was legal, while men got off scot free. Worth buying and watching.
