Tells it straight.
Shows how compelled athletes are to function above their natural capabilities. The pressure to dope is well known in the cycling world and the financial gains from success are huge. Millar's account proves the point. He writes well and of course shows his own ego in his words. Pro cyclists are the top athletes and no other sport is as demanding both physically and psychologically. This infers the greatest pressure to perform well and to keep on undaunted. Millar is a nice guy and he is totally honest about his experiences. He is unable to name names as this would put him at risk of legal action from other bikers.
