Bought for a relative [ I had read this last year], as an an avid reader would reccomend, the narrative centres around different characters living in Scotland, it's about the changes that happened here leading up to the referendum. The Land lay still by James Robertson is a fantastic read, keeps the reader hooked from first page until the last. This is not the first book of the author I have read and remains a favourite.

James Robertson's book spans fifty years of the growth of a sense of Scotland and Scottishness through the lives of several "ordinary" folk who's lives reflect the tide of change. A reflective insightful book.
