No real comment, works fine as it should do. Don’t support fiba optics but its neat easy to set up for BT providing you leave the unit plugged in and never switch it off , otherwise you will have slower speeds than dial up. BT uses yahoo mail and caused me lots of problems with email at first verifying this that and everything. Can get hub 2 with telephone cordless. Using now hub 3 so hub 2 is lying idle for spare if needed. Price second hand is very cheep on ebay where I purchased mine from. Hoping to use it in my outbuilding, but you cant have both hubs running so I got mains plug in hub, working great. PJ
- Why you bought it: It was bought to replace my BTHomeHub1.0 which had started showing occasional problems (possibly due to a re-installation, but it had been more reliable that a lot of others I'd heard about up to that point) and its menus seemed to be having problems in the newer browser versions. I bought the Siemens version which I was told is more reliable that the other Chinese manufactured version. - What you like most about it: It is a bit faster than the old hub, it uses less energy and has an energy-saving power-off timer to switch off when not being used for known times. It starts / resets and connects MUCH faster, the buttons are much easier to access and its menus are much easier to use. It also works with my old hub phones. (A key reason for buying this over a hub 3.0) - What you dislike about it: Nothing. It is not as fast as the Hub 3.0, but then you wouldn't expect it to be. Just one desirable enhancement that I can think of:- The energy-saving power-off timer is an excellent feature, but has only one pattern. Adding the option of different patterns that can be allocated to different days (e,g. as a minimum: "Weekday", "Weekend") would make life a bit easier. It just means that I have to switch the hub on in the mornings on weekends. - Whether or not you would buy the product again: In the same circumstances, yes definitely. In fact I wish I had bought it a few years earlier. My Ratings: It has been very reliable so far but I've not had it very long so I can only justify a 4-star reliability rating. If it continues like this it will definitely get 5 stars.Read full review
Cheap and cheerful backup modem, that's almost as good as the latest BT Homehub 3.0, if you have one! If you are an existing BT broadband user, it's a simple load the driver software (hopefully provided!) and plug in and play, providing you have the security key number sticker provided with it. Otherwise the modem apparently can be software 'hacked' to work on other broadband networks. The wifi coverage is very good, and I can use my tablet computer anywhere in the garden now, and even in the garage about 50ft away!
Its a fact that your broadband provider will, when setting up your line, install the cheapest router that they can. I'd been with my ISP for three years and they simply refused to upgrade the router and, with technology moving so fast, a three year old piece of kit is damn near archaic. So, I bought a better router, plugged it in, put the password in my pc and got twice the speed I was getting 20 minutes earlier.
I've used this and other routers to extend our wireless network, connecting the routers with powerline ethernet connectors and setting them up with the same SSID and password etc. It also offers extra 100Mbps fastethernet ports.

I had the old white bt router which was getting slow compred to other versions. BT no longer sell the bt home hub two so purchased my new from e-bay. The item arrived quickly and was obvious had never been opened, set up was easy and first impressions are that it is much quicker and does not drop out, it looks much better than the old white one that I did have and overall I an=m very pleased. At the moment I can think of no practical reson to update further and I can highly recomend this item. Don't knoe why bt no longer supply these.
Ask the vendor if it is a Type 2.0a or 2.0b. If it's a 2.0b, buy for a cheap price, as loads of people are being upgraded to the v3 router for FttC/FttP. Then Google for how to "hack it" to allow it work for your non BT ISP. Use and enjoy. Good range, Wireless stack doesn't crash with mobile phones, recommended!
Installed in place of a Belkin router, broadband speed has increased from 1.5mbs to 3.6mbs. To say I'm deligted is an understatement! My ISP is TalkTalk, no setup was required other than wifi security key. I've had years of slow broadband until I bought this bad boy.
As the weak link in any internet setup has to be the internet hub, other computers are often available, so to be able to find this exact replacement for my now very old hub, at an almost nothing price was an excellent deal.

Up till now I had been using a plug in router. This was fine untill I got a tablet which required Wifi. Hence my reason for purchasing the above. It was easy to install on my Windows XP computer which is 7 years old and counting. It functions as well as the plug in router It was rated as unused and was cheap I could have got a cheaper used one. I am please with this purchase.
