With a few basic upgrades this platform has become a strong performer. Installing a SATA III hard drive gave most of the performance boost. Next was memory upgrade to 16GB and lastly a CPU swap to an I7-2600K. Running High Sierra with ease and at modern speed.

This may be an old machine but it's perfectly usable with a huge 27" screen. I am a computer programmer and find more than enough power. I would imagine with a SSD upgrade(easier on these older models) you could easily have a machine that will edit music and 1080 videos, I wouldn't think it would cope with 4k.

Since new this Apple iMac has performed faultlessly, it's a delight to use - great Apple advice and staff service. Senior Citizens should BUY these. Easy-Peasy. So very impressed. Don’t know why I struggled with PC’s for years? NO more windows PC for me.

The first thing is, you need to get some more memory installed, even if you just do simple stuff like web browsing. If you open up a few web pages at the same time, in tabs, either with Safari or Chrome, it will suck up all your memory and you will find yourself at the limit, especially if you do a lot of YouTube viewing as the Shockwave code eats up memory like anything too. Apart from that, fantastic. The quality of the image on the screen is far superior to any general purpose (read: Windows) flat screen monitor, and that's a big point as that's what you spend all your time looking at. The quality of the computer itself is first class, everything just works, as they say. And the software is as Apple themselves like to point out, the world's most advanced operating system. There's one or two grumbles, like they could have made editing MP3 tags an easier job, maybe within iTunes. And you have to download something to open .rar files although it will open all other zip files easily enough. Another thing you'll need is a software called 'Perian' which is like a codec pack in Windows and lets you open all the different media files there are these days, again Apple could perhaps have built this into the OS. But yeah, I would say more or less worth it. I test drove Mac OS 10 on a hackintosh setup beforehand so I knew the OS was the best. Once you've experienced it I doubt you'll ever want to go back to Windows again. The hardware is great, and that's what Apple sells at the end of the day. It is cutting edge, excellent aesthetic design, simplicity itself, and leaves all the others standing. I say 'more or less worth it' because the price is top shelf but then again I am a cheapskate, and I saved £350 off new price buying a used one that is like new! Anyway I'll sign off here, I reckon that's enough verbal d. for now. Thanks.Read full review
A wonderful computer! One ecstatic husband! Thank you very much. In wonderful condition and operates so much better than his old macpro laptop. So nice it came with its original box and with the keyboard and mouse also. Husband is very grateful, thank you, it made his Christmas!

fantastic says it all, could do with more free games, I just cannot see how microsoft sell its load of rubbish.Apple should have employed me in their store because if so my enthusiasm for this product would have doubled their turnover.I see the type of people who sell this product just haven't got it it needs a more dedicated person ,As you can see i think the product is so outstanding i would like every person in the world to experiance what i can have with my apple
Good product i like it a LOT

Advertised as a 2011 model, when checking details on screen it shows it as a 2009 model. Good machine, works well, reasonable price, but disappointed to be misinformed.
