"The Brick Bible" is not what you think--and please do not give it to children. This book uses Legos to depict Bible stories in a twisted way, often with needless violence or inappropriate humor. It sounds like a great fun idea for getting kids to learn about the Bible but it was created by an atheist to make cheap and irreverent visual jokes. I'm sure the author continues to get a kick out of Christian purchasers who think it's a sincere effort to communicate sacred stories in a fresh way and gift it to children. Trust me, it's basically sad and will upset some people. That is the reason why used copies of this book are so cheap. If it was a real Christian Bible with creative Lego pictures it would be in-demand and would cost you more for certain.

I have been using the online version of the Brick Bible to supplement my grandson's Bible stories for a few years now and when I saw that it had been published I was blown away! Since he is really into Bible Stories and Legos I figured I couldn't go wrong making these purchases. I was right! We have included these books in our daily Bible studies and he is glued to them. We are amazed at the amount of work and time it took to put both books together.(The introduction to the Old Testament states it took 10 years to create and photogragh the 1400 illustrations for that book!) Although there are some graphic scenes (little lego bodies strewn about, decapitated lego heads, and red legos depicting blood on ground and circumcisions) it is pretty true to scripture and makes it a lot less scary for young readers. There are also a few scenes with naked legos laying in bed together (not in awkward positions just side by side)to show a marriage taking place such as Jacob marrying Leah. So far I haven't seen anything too disturbing and my grandson is so enthralled with the Legos themselves and the idea that someone could actually create illustrations for the Bible with them that he hasn't really focused on anything else. There are also a few stories that I have had to clarify with the standard version of the Bible because they were left out but then I can only imagine how long it would take to put that many lego scenes together! I read somewhere that Brendon Smith was an athiest but I can hardly believe that he would have spent this much time illustrating Bible stories with Legos if that was the case.Read full review
Too much black on each page making it gloomy, flat not glossy like cover, cheap made, pictures on cover do not show all of the black trim on each page or around each picture in multi picture page, cover has white around each page -but this is misrep. ard for Kids to follow which way story goes - across or down! flat paper dull finish, good idea just use better paper, , found 5 book set -also called brick bible with great glossy pages at the store cheaper 😠

I saw these at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC and was intrigued. I found them here on ebay for a great price and will be using them as gifts for a kids program. It's like a graphic novel, only using legos as the artwork. It's really cool.
