As a knight serving the German nobility in the imperial Hohenstauffen period, the author was uniquely placed to describe the zest and colour of his hero's world, with dazzling depictions of courtly luxury, jousting and adventure.
This is a great read for Grail and Arthurian addicts. It details the adventures of roaming knight Gahumeret before we get to the upbringing and adventures of his more favorite son Parzival. Gawain also figures in adventures. This is a good clear translation and clarity where necessary is provided by footnotes. Spiritual truth here as well as escapism. An excellent read.
