    good general GPS cheaply made

2455LMT does live traffic via its radio receiver and lifetime maps. This is my 4th unit. Pros Easy to use, when it works clear simple screens software for upgrade works well easy to repair, just remove 4 screws and you are in to the guts memory card extends its life but delay getting new maps to once a year see cons Cons routing away from highways to backways sometimes is done without the users knowledge, if the Garmin sees traffic via the radio, it will route away from it, even if the traffic is not so severe, YELLOW upgrading takes a long time, about 1 hr, no matter how fast your connect speed is, and as the maps get bigger the unit responds slower radio traffic is less accurate than google maps, but otherwise fine Cheaply made, compared to older Garmin models, but most all new GPS units are the USB port is easily broken and has to be repaired in many units, this is my 4th, I buy low cost units to use for spares, just resolder all its connections and it will be fine, screen is just snap in replacement the touch screen is fragile, so get a hard case to store it in when not in use, or in a bag anything pressing on the screen hard can crack it

good general purpose GPS unit with cheap build quality

Pros used unit since 2013 Easy to learn to use fast reliable GPS radio, fast to sync never drops good GPS and map electronics, works well out of box free lifetime maps traffic radio works reliably where available memory card slot is necessary and comes with this model Cons upgrades to firmware and maps take a 1 hr each time with each upgrade, response of electronics gets slow and will fill memory quickly, SD card is more necessary than optional USB port break connections and gets loose after 2 years, needed to be resoldered to mobo touch screen became erratic after 4 years, needed replacement Case is prone to crack after only 3 years of sun exposure, needed replacement I bought 2 used unit for parts to repair my current unit for Cons above.

  • Garmin Nuvi 2455LMT

I'm really liking the 2455 LMT. It's super easy to use. Maps are easy to update. I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend it to anyone who doesn't want/need the newest fanciest gadget, but just wants directions. Given 4/5 stars only because it can be confusing as to what direction the vehicle is facing on the map when starting from a stand-still. Once you start moving the map orients itself so your direction is clear, sometimes resulting in the need for an immediate u-turn.

  • Garmin

I own another Garmin 2455 and I really like it . I've never had a problem with it and I don't think I will have a problem with the new one. The one problem I face is the USB data cable was missing from the package. I need it to update the maps using my PC. I guess I will have to buy one at a electronics store.

  • Steep learning curve?

Coming from experience with an older Magellan, I found there are many more features, but ( for me) many are difficult to find and learn, and going to an on-line manual is not easy , most of the times I need it.....like when I am in the car, trying to figure out some feature. Example...it always asks for an address first....what if you just want to get to a small town, and don't have a specific address? There is a way, but I have not mastered it yet. Rod J

  • Using for walking

Looked like new when opened. Bought because it has a walking mode, just right for see local areas. Found that when updating maps that there is not enough memory in the basic unit and you need to add a sd card

  • works excellent!!

the cheapest and has all the original accessories. some of the points of interests does not exist in reality but only happened once on this gps. signal is okay and the traffic alert is so far accurate not 100% but it works. signal is weaker in tall building as compare to magellan that i used to have other than that this gps works absolutely beautiful and the map updates every 3 months other gps's updates twice or once a year only. this has 8gb memory so no need for me to buy external memory and this has maps of all north america continent not just the USA. very compact and the screen is very bright i was amaze by it because my magellan has dim brightness this one can handle sunlight glare and very readable. It has a lot of good features and all that bling. Overall I love it over my magellan!!

I bought the Garmin for my son for his B-day as he lives 240 miles from us. Plus he loves road jaunts up North where he lives. He loves the Garmin and all the features it has. Places to eat and see are displayed . Very updated from the model my husband and I have. He will use it often and will enjoy this Garmin.

  • Garmin Does Its Job

Easy to use; updated the maps. Did need to get a mini SD card to load all maps. Used it on a roadtrip through parts of Detroit & Ontario, and we didn't get lost. Excellent value for the money.
