Super charged my Dell E5510
I bought my Laptop a while ago. It was a second hand Dell Latitude E5510 with 4GB of ram, a magnetic 160GB HDD and an i3 2.2GHz CPU. Over time I replaced the HDD with a SSD which improved the performance a lot, and an extra 4GB of RAM also helped. But I've had the same CPU in it since I got it. Now finally I've replaced it with this i7. And WOW! The difference is amazing. It's still not a power house by any means, but this CPU has made it perform better than any other laptop I've ever used. Upgraded my 2010 Gateway NV-59C laptop I had laying under the bed that hadn’t been used in 3 years. It had a i3-370M, SSD, and 8gb ram. I looked up some videos on how to take the laptop apart to access the CPU. Destroyed the keyboard in the process but that’s my own fault. Swapped it with a new keyboard and she’s good as new. Just make sure you update the BIOS to accept the new CPU BEFORE you install the i7-640M or windows will not open. Great price for an easy upgrade
I've upgraded my old Toshiba A665-S5170 i3 processor with this one in about 45 minutes. One thing I was little surprised with is that despite the picture showing very nice and clean processor, in reality it came in full of old silver thermal paste all over the processor and the GPU. So, the picture in the listing is not the actual processor you are getting. I would buy it again!
This was a pull from another machine and I was expecting it to be wrapped in bubble wrap and tape. Well it came quickly and it was in a small case with thermal pads and cleaner to install. It went in easily and is performing great in my daughter's pc. Perfect Upgrade for an older Acer 5820TG Laptop
CPU worked perfectly upgrading from an i5 in my Acer Aspire 5820TG - it is an older laptop, so getting to the CPU was quite a chore, had to take it almost completely apart but once there, installation was easy, applied fresh thermal paste and while it does run hotter than the i5, with more demand on the fan, it has been great. First Gen Upgrade
I am an IT in Healthcare, but on the side i repair, program, build pc's. This cpu was for an older Dell Inspiron, I decided to see what I could do to it to speed it up a bit. Fyi the i3 in it was a bottleneck along with the hdd. Put in the i7 and a ssd and it is now as fast or faster than "most" new laptops.
