Bliss.
This cd contains several pieces of opera that are well known and some that are maybe not that famous. The overall playing time is over 67 minutes, 14 of which are taken up by Othello. Each track is superb in it's own right and are designed to show off the enormous range of Mario Lanza. However.......... Nothing, but nothing, eclipses Puccini's Nessum dorma which is hardly supprising as this staggeringly beautiful offering is one of the greatest operatic songs ever written. If you thought Pavarotti et al performed this piece to the maximum that could be extracted from the human voice, think again. Lanza's unique delivery staggers belief. His is without shadow of a doubt THE perfect rendition. No one else comes close, the purity of sound is unmatched, and when considering the year of recording without benefit of modern tech, the finished article, albeit in mono lacks for nothing. If this man had lived on, he would have become the greatest tenor that ever lived. RIP big man, we have not seen your like again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
