With "Bloody Tourists" 10cc stepped firmly out of the shadow of the previous quartet of albums recorded with their former bandmates. Eric Stwart and Graham Gouldman chose to carry on when Lol Creme and Kevin Godley left 10cc to promote their Gizmo device and release "Consequences" their triple album about nature out of balance. Stewart and Gouldman had already made the terrific "Deceptive Bends" which became a massive hit on both sides of the Atlantic but it was recorded by the duo with help from drummer Paul Burgess. With "Bloody Tourists" 10cc were a full band again and they scored their second top 40 album and had one of their biggest hits with "Dreadlock Holiday" (inspired by the experiences of Moody Blues member Justin Hayward). It's a concept album about the rigors and dangers of traveling. The original CD release is one of the best since the tapes were still in good enough shape to use (the remaster uses damaged tapes). SOund quality is extremely good and the original album graphics have been adapted for the packaging (unlike the reissue which botches it by including sleeve notes but NOT including lyrics or the original artwork PLUS getting band names wrong),Read full review
This has got to be in the top ten pop music albums ever. I had the LP and thought I had the CD. But when my 6 six year old grandson, holding a cricket bat, started to sing "I don't like cricket... I love it" I started to search for my CD and only found the LP... I knew I simply had to buy one. Which I did instantly and effortlessly on Ebay.
Sadly for me I'm not fond of these later albums of 10 cc I don't like the lyrics boring would not recommend them earlier 10 cc ok .
