Smaller than expected
This particular bag has very small panniers that only extend about 6.75 inches below the rack line, and are about 8 inches wide. This is good for a lock or chain, some personals, some energy bars, a multi-tool and a replacement inner tube with a mini push pump. Stuff a spare shirt and micro towel in one of the panniers. I use the netting on top to hold my mini blue tooth speaker so I can hear music on the road. The bag doesn't even use the full depth of the Topeak track, leaving 2" of wasted rack space that could have been covered by a slightly longer bag.
So if you have water bottle cages already mounted to your frame, this bag is great for the short leisurely runs around town. It would be lousy for any extended ride or tour.
The Topeak quick connect system is great, holding things secure without straps. The material is strong, and has reflective taping stitched to it. It will provide some water resistance, but if you plan to ride in the rain you'll need a rain cover. Seems durable enough. The carry strap is handy, and the small size makes it light weight.
Because of the limited space and utility I can't give it 5 stars. I'll give it a 3. The quality of the bag is a 5, and the rack system itself is a 5.
Topeak knows the size of their rear racks. Why wouldn't they use the entire rail with any of the products they design?
