Gorgeous & Functional
I must admit that I originally was drawn to this toaster by its looks, then was thrilled to see it also had good reviews. Ha. I have never before left a toaster on the counter, but this one is too gorgeous to put away. It works beautifully. I have used all the settings and they work as one would hope them to. Bread is toasted uniformly on both sides, or on just one side in bagel mode. For the most part, I leave it on setting "4". I love the way the toast is gently lowered and lifted, and I like the countdown feature. I just bought my second one. The first one went crazy a few days after its three year warranty was up (the lift kept going up and down and up and ... couldn't get it to stop without pulling the plug! Funny.), but there was never a doubt in my mind that I would replace it with the same toaster. I love this one too much.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Cuisinart gimmick!
It's a good looking toaster, automated and thus, something to talk about. After toasting 6 toasts on Setting at 3, the stainless steel on one side discolored. Tried to clean it, but couldn't since it was the metal that is showing fatigue. This means that the heating design and distribution of air through the unit is a poor design or the stainless steel is a cheap one! Picture attached shows discoloration around the Defrost button. (It's not a shadow or reflection). Additionally, slices of bread do not heat and toast evenly. The automatic Up and Down of the slice is amusing. I expected Cuisinart to be a better product. But, its just another toaster comparable to a Walmart $19.99 unit. Buy it for the amusement factor. If that doesn't get your interest, save your money and buy the same toaster for half the price with a manual toast lowering mechanism.

Pretty but Useless
This is a beautiful looking toaster but it is clear that it was not adequately tested before production. Both bread slices and bagel halves catch on the lip of the toasting slot when the mechanism raises them after toasting. It then proceeds to accordion the bread into a toasted, crumpled mass that has to be dug out of the jammed machinery with whatever tool you have handy. I used it one week and threw it away. I wrote to Cuisinart to give them feedback but they have not commented.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

he darkness of the toast
Our old toaster had a lever to push down to load the bread and it regularly burned part of the bread. The LED that measures darkness of the toast is wonderful. My wife no longer treats me like a god by putting burned offerings before me.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
