Inexpensive, but not cheap...
While this is an inexpensive baritone ukulele, it's not a cheaply made instrument. The uke is laminated mahogany and it has geared tuners. It's trimmed in white binding, and strung with aquilas. Mine was strung D-G-B-E. The 3rd and 4th strings are wound. The tone is rich and warm and it's a joy to play. I'm going to buy another for my daughter.
I'm not new to ukuleles, but this is my first baritone. I contrast it to other baritones, but I can say that Kala exercised care and quality control in the production. The satin finish is flawless. The frets are smooth and even the string install is meticulous. The neck is smooth and comfortable. The geared tuners are closed, but the instrument feels good, not neck heavy. As I've already stated, the tone is warm and rich and the intonation is very good. You will likely be happy with this baritone uke for the price...heckuva value!
