Penn Squall 15 Star Drag Conventional Reel with the Magnetic Brake System
I went to a seminar at BPS on Pompano surf fishing. The speaker at the seminar spoke so highly of the Penn Squall 15 star drag conventional reel I thought I would give it a try. I mean after all, it is what he uses to fish Pompano. Every time I fish with the Squall 15 star drag conventional reel I am more and more impressed. I am impressed with its capabilities of both casting and reeling fish in. To use a coined expression - "It casts a country mile! " and the ease of bringing them in, is awesome! At first I was having trouble with "professional run" when casting, but I learned very quickly what the magnetic drag is for; needless to say my frustration has all but disappeared and I feel like a true fisherman out there. I have used the Penn Squall 15 star drag about a dozen times so far since my purchase. When I'm done fishing for the day I wash it down and it still looks and works like its brand new. I have not seen any signs of wear or tear so far, and I doubt I will so long as I keep taking care of it. I like the reel so much I am going to buy another one for my growing arsenal of surf fishing gear, if you are smart you will too. It is a great value for the money, you won't be disappointed. Aún no lo he probado en el mar...
A pesar de aún no haberlo probado en el mar, me decepcionó un poco lo ruidoso que es. Al girar la manivela se escucha como un roce interno y he podido comprobar en otro, en una casa de pesca de mi país, que se siente lo mismo, por lo que descarto una falla de mi reel. También, si ajusto el freno magnético cerca del máximo, se siente como que empieza a rosar contra el carrete. Por el precio y la marca esperaba un poco mas. Como lo compre en USA, tenía la esperanza que fuera hecho ahí, pero no, made in china... Reluctant to buy at first with so many choices. Replacing a few squidders 140"s I am Penn through and through but almost bought abu Garcia from lots of pressure from friends and sales people, but now that I have used my squall, I know I made the right choice mostly fish red fish and spotted trout.
