This is an excellent quality, Taiwan made, overhaul kit for the larger AC Type Y mechanical fuel pump sometimes referred to as the "export model". This version of the pump is usually found on larger capacity and multi carburetor engines, in my case a Triumph Vitesse Mk2. Several UK car makers fitted AC pumps but Standard Triumph were particularly fond of them over a long period of time and thereby lies one of two minor issues with this kit,
First off I want to say how good the parts are, the diaphragm is an excellent fit in the pump body and seems to be made of a material resistant to ethanol and the valves actually look to be better quality than the originals and also fit firmly in the pump upper body and two alternative seals are provided for the top cover.
The only fault that I can find with this kit is as follows, firstly it is advertised as being for Triumph 2000, 2500, GT6 and Vitesse models but, according to the box, was in fact originally made for 1960s TR4 models. Whilst all these cars used the AC Y export pump there were minor differences in design and production methods over the years and as a result the kit is not an easy direct fit especially for inexperienced mechanics. In particular removing the outlet valve from late pumps requires specialist tools and knowledge and the gaskets between the valves and body are individual items not the single 8 shaped item supplied although it can be cut and shaped to fit.
