A must have confidence for learners and experienced pilots
I have previously purchased this product for other RC planes I own. Install and setup can be a little frustrating as with any RC add on. The reward is in the flying experience. When installed correctly these devices will save you accidents as they straighten the plane in windy conditions faster than an experienced pilot can. If you are a neophyte flyer as I am it buys you confidence as it removes your preoccupation with flight stability. As a learner I hit a plateau where I avoided landing planes by myself wherever possible, relying on others to assist me. A few flights with the Eagle Tree and I was anxious to begin landing the plane. The flying field that I use is often plagued with high winds. very good unit but with too many complex features for most flyers
I've installed two of these units in two different Cubs, a VQ PA-18 1/4 scale gasser, and 1/5 scale World Models clipped wing. I use 2d for landing, and 3d for flying. This gives me full control for whatever maneuvers I wish fly with no interference from the gyro, but with good stabilization when the sticks are centered. With 2d, I can line up with the runway, holding the approach regardless of the wind direction and, to some extent, the wind velocity. the angle of descent is controlled with throttle and elevator. I set the gains low on pitch and somewhat higher on roll and yaw. Unless you need the other functions outlined in the manual, or enjoy giving yourself migraines, set this unit up as I have, and make minimal adjustments until you are comfortable with the results. Great Co-Pilot
I own six of the Eagle Tree Guardian inertial stabilizer devices. This have made it possible for me to fly my WWI Warbird SE5a without crashing. I use the 2D option. When I loose orientation, I just let go of the control sticks and the Guardian returns the plane to level flight. Nice! I recently used this with my Blade CX2 heli for control of the Elev and Ail servo's. The rudder is assisted by the Blade 3 in 1 controller's rate gyro. The CX2 is a co-axial heli and is controlled like an airplane instead of variable pitch like a traditional heli. I bought one here on ebay and converted it to a model of the Mars 2020 helicopter that will go to Mars with the 2020 Rover.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
