    A hard-working tool for the re-loader.

This product is used with molten lead to create 00 buckshot for shotguns. There is a learning curve for the product and it can be difficult to master. This tool is very well made and the instructions that come with it are clear and easy to follow. Successful shot production depends on how well you use it AND the pot of molten lead. I have had no problems I could not handle with the instructions to help me. In the final result, you can always re-melt your shot (and your mistakes) to re-make them over and over again. I highly recommend the product,

  • Most critical review

    Haven't yet mastered this product.

I've used Lee molds for a number of years and I've always had good success with every one of them. That's why I chose this mold for 00 buckshot. Unfortunately, I've had difficulty mastering this particular mold. I just can't seem to get the thing hot enough across the entire mold. One end is fine and the other end is not sufficiently hot to cast a good buckshot. I just haven't mastered this product yet. In fact, I gave up the casting session in frustration because of the uneven heating. I never did manage to cast an entire line of properly sized buckshot. I know I'm doing something wrong but I haven't quite figured it out. When I muster enough courage I'll give it another try. But not today. Grrrrrr...!!

  • Not for the faint of heart.

As someone with 50 years of casting behind me, this is a tough mold to get good yields from. Lead needs to be HOT. Mold needs to be HOT. Hotter than you would normally want it. Also(on bottom pour pots) sprue plate wants to be against the pour spout. Your results may vary. Otherwise this is good, well built mold.

  • Take your time

I scrubbed it with lighter fluid twice and twice with dish washing detergent with a stiff bristle brush and made sure it was dry in between each cleaning. I then made sure it was hot enough before dispensing lead into it and still had trouble getting it to produce the full 18 pellets until I raised the temp of the lead to a higher temp than I've ever used for a 2 cavity bullet mold. It does now give me most of the 18 each time if I really watch what I'm doing. Good luck and hang in there till you find the right combo of temp and let the mold get hot enough .. Have fun and be safe loading and shooting ..

  • Lee kead mold 00 buck

This is a great way to make your own 00 buck. Definitely requires mold to be very hot so all cavities are filled. Used a small propane torch to get it up to temp.

  • Better have a bottom pour pot

Small ladle wont fill the three stack cavities sufficiently you need a steady stream of lead, If you dont have a big ladle or bottom pour melter, you wont get the 18 cavities to fill. I got about 10% yeild, still a good deal if you are properly set up. The way to get higher yeilds is to heat the mold with a propane torch for a few minutes to get it over heated and let air cool a bit. Then pour only one 3 cell cavity at a time working from the handle end and moving towards the end one cavity at a time. Let the lead cool inside the mold for a few seconds

  • A real money saver.

After trying to find 00 buckshot for reloading and paying over $35 plus shipping for 8 pounds, I decided to try casting my own. For the cost of 16 pounds of factory made buckshot, I bought this mold and cast over 30 pounds of buckshot in one afternoon. I will save even more in the future with only the cost of recycled lead to make my shot.

  • Great mold. Takes some getting used to.

Never used a multi-cavity mold before, and I had to make some adjustments to my technique, but once I learned what I needed to do differently, it cast beautifully. Still prefer steel, but Lee makes a really fine product.

  • LEE molds work great

as I already have a #4 buckshot mold by LEE I knew these would be a good buy. I purchased the #00 and a #000 buckshot mold and they work great, it does take a bit of time to get them heated up but they are large 18 cavity molds. would be nice if the handles came with them.

  • Buy it and cast buckshot on your own.

The mold worked great! Lets make all molds great again! You have to make sure you have the mold extremely hot and your have to pour slowly so that the lead can make it to all 18 shot spaces.
