Only with a "lid" on the cup does it keep the coffee truly hot
I was satisfied w/ what it does, but really would like a warmer that keeps the coffee hotter. But warm coffee is a whole lot better than cold coffee and I really did not expect anything better than what I got. I use a slightly oversize mug that does fit, which I was a bit concerned about. update There is a simple way to keep the coffee warmer - - - put a lid on the cup. Anything will work, even the cardboard backing of a note pad, but a small ceramic dish works best. With that covering the cup, the coffee not only stays hot, but may slightly increase in temp. If it does in fact continue working for more than a year, I'll upgrade this to a 5.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

What It's Worth
Three stars is described as "it's just 0kay". Not going to bash a product over what it is not meant to do. It does what most other coffee warmers do, without the fancy gadgets. There is a reason these go for the price they do, and we'll leave it at that. It (along with most all the others) keeps your coffee from getting too cold, too fast. If your looking for something to keep it hot, as right from the pot? Good luck. I don't use microwaves and finding most "coffee warmers" to not be an option at my price point, will not change my life one iota. Assuming I received the typically functioning unit of this brand? Cannot for the life of me understand the raving reviews for any warmer in this price range, or slightly above this price range. Handy. Would purchase again.
Unit holds a standard size coffee cup. Easy on/off button with indicator light. Warms quickly and keeps beverage hot for hours. No automatic shut off. Hot coffee all the way
I generally just enjoy the top third of my coffee. Then it dawned on me this was because I think hot coffee tastes better. This little mug warmer helps immensely and now I finish the cup. The warmer heats when the weight of the cup triggers it on and when the cup is removed, it turns off. That is a rather important safety feature. Good buy for the price.
Well constructed with good materials. On-Off switch means it stays hot even if you have the cup off of it for a few minutes. Higher heat?
I've been hoping for a way to keep my coffee hot over a short time period for morning enjoyment but was sadly disappointed in this warmer. I'm aware there may be limits to the "safe" heat these elements can emit, but even with a glass insulating cover over my coffee cup it does not stay hot past a few minutes... literally. Does what it's supposed to.
This warmer is a nice addition to my workshop, I was tired of always coming back to a cold cup of coffee! The only thing I think I would have changed as far as a design standpoint is the heated surface does not make a perfect seal with the housing, with a little pressure you can push down and make a gap between the element and the plastic. This isn't too much of a problem but causes for some concern when it comes to spills. Any spillage should be quickly sopped up less you run the risk of whatever liquid your warming to seep into the warmer itself... "shocking"... I know. All in all, it does what it's designed to do. Mug Warmer
This mug warmer is good for people who work on the computer and need to keep their drink warm. It keeps your drink warm, not piping hot. I don’t think any manufacturer makes one that keeps it piping hot. Also you have to use a conventional size coffee cup. They aren’t designed for the giant wide cups. Good Deal
