Dream Demon is one of those film you may have wondered 'whatever happened to' because for several years it was effectively 'lost'. While it had a relatively successful release in the UK, director Harley Cokeliss explains that the US distributor went bankrupt and the film got buried in the vaults (rather like my old VHS copy). From time to time he made enquiries about it and eventually found a copy. This disc is the result of his efforts and the BFI. The disc contains both the original release version and also a 'directors cut', which, as far as I can tell, is not significantly different, the main cut being the original ending, which on reflection, was considered to be detracting from the main tone of the film. Arrow Video gives it's usual quality presentation with lots of extras, commentary, interviews, 'making of' features, etc. Although we are told it was inspired by 'Nightmare on Elm Street', 'Dream Demon' is not a production line ripoff and has many original touches to commend it.
