This device and app are brilliant. After 5 years I wanted to know the state of charge on my Prius. Using electronics the Prius uses the Hybrid battery to simulate an alternator and charge the 12v battery used to power all the normal car electrics.
With the monitor and app I can clearly see that when the car is not active the 12v battery is discharging at a rate I think is higher than it should be. I can repeat checks to ensure this rate of discharge is consistent.
I twice used a smart charger to get the battery up to 100% full and can see the battery losing 0.15v per day. Not massive but from being completely ignorant of its condition over time, now I can calculate the discharge rate over time and assess if it is suffering self-discharge at a higher rate than normal.
Yes. I could get the battery tested at a garage but what would be the fun in that?
I'm able to monitor my batteries in the garage from inside my house,as long as I'm at the nearest side that the garage is to the house.
Only quibble I have is that the reading on my smartphone is 0.2volts less than at the actual batteries measuring with a multimeter. No problem though,I just add 0.2 to the reading.
As its for my home solar setup, it's saved me countless journeys to and from the garage.
The graph per day is interesting 🤔
