Film is excellent but DVD package didn't not include the booklet. Highly recommended.
Excellent film about the young woman who became Pierre Renoir's final muse and then later, his son, Jean Renoir's first muse in his film career. Despite her strategic impact on both careers, she was largely forgotten and erased from the story (as is the norm for most women's contributions, btw). This film's purpose is to correct that omission. The actors are all wonderful, esp. the lovely very young (19 yrs old) Christa Theret as THE youngster who made it all happen. The cinematography is extraordinary... gorgeous, as if Renoir himself designed and shot each scene. The careful directing is superb and non-intrusive i.e. invisible in the actors' work (as it should be but too often is not in French films).
I was very disappointed when I opened the DVD case to find that the booklet about the film was not included in the item.
