Blaine Reininger's third solo album had a bit of a difficult birth, coming off a split with the band that had been supporting his earlier work. Byzantium's indeed very much a solo effort as a result, with Reininger handling everything aside from saxophone and a couple of extra guitar parts.

NotesBlaine L. Reininger is one of the creative mainsprings behind the cult avant-garde band Tuxedo moon. As a solo artist he has made some ten solo albums including Broken Fingers (1982) Night Air (1984) Live in Brussels (1986) Instrumentals (1989) & the More I Learn (2000). Most appeared on the Crepuscule label. Byzantium is his fourth solo album for Crepuscule recorded in 1986/87 with noted engineer Gilles Martin. The original eight tracks have now been increased to 16 & now.
