  • A fascinating topic, written in an exceptionally easy to read format.

The writing style adopted is like a transcript of two people using normal, every-day conversational language to tell you about some fairly dodgy medical activities from a bygone age - in a very humorous manner! The book is full of illustrations and funny comments, along with lots of little fact-boxes and factually accurate historical stories, so I believe it would appeal to all ages, from about 10 years upwards. My only criticism would be that there are a surprising number of typos sprinkled throughout the book (maybe sack the proof-reader?) - but this hasn't detracted from my enjoyment of the contents. I would definitely recommend this book, as even people who wouldn't normally be drawn to the topic would probably enjoy it.
